Based on our Six Purposes, our Founders thought it important for sisters to devote time to causes greater than themselves. Throughout its history, Chi Omega charged each collegiate and alumnae chapter to adopt a philanthropic project according to their local communities’ needs.

In the late 1990s, the Governing Council recognized the immense impact that our membership could have within the world of community service, and they began to investigate possible partnerships with national philanthropies. In the late 1990s, the Governing Council recognized the immense impact that our membership could have within the world of community service, and they began to investigate possible partnerships with national philanthropies.

In 2002, Chi Omega announced the Chi Omega/ Make-A-Wish Foundation® alliance.  Chi Omega has risen over $4.5 million and unselfishly given over 280,000 volunteer hours. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® recognizes Chi Omega as one of their “Cause Champion Sponsors”.  In order to be considered a “Cause Champion”, an organization must contribute over $500,000+ annually.

Chi Omega's goal is to have both collegiate and alumnae chapters become increasingly involved in volunteering and fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and to assist in the granting of wishes to these special children. Through this, all Chi Omegas can understand the importance of service to others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood.

*Our Philanthropies*

Each year, the sisters of Chi Omega, plan two philanthropies to raise money for “Make-A-Wish Foundation®”.  In the fall semester, Gamma hosts’ a 5k run/walk called “Walk 4 Wishes” that was designed to raise critical funds for our wish-granting mission.  W4W, as we call it, allows us to grant wishes as quickly as possible.  W4W is open to people of all ages and fitness levels and is a wonderful way to support “Make-A-Wish Foundation®”, while also getting some exercise and enjoying the outdoors!

In addition to “Walk 4 Wishes”, Gamma also hosts’ the longest running philanthropy on FSU’s campus!  “Sand Slam” is the annual volleyball tournament held each spring semester.  Teams from across Florida and well into Georgia travel to Tallahassee every spring to play in our tournament!  By hosting these annual philanthropies our chapter has raised over $50,000 dollars in the past 10 years for the “Make-A-Wish Foundation®”.
